Configure multilingual conversations

Set the agent language and verify speech support with real samples.

Select a language

Use Voice & language in the agent editor. Choose a fixed language when every caller should receive that language. Choose Multilingual (automatic) when the agent should follow the caller's latest clear language request and honor an explicit switch.

The language menu covers more than English and Spanish, including French, German, Romanian, Arabic, Portuguese and many others. A language appearing in the menu is not a promise that every selected voice and model supports it equally.

Match the voice

Select a voice suited to your callers' languages. The editor warns when a language needs a matching voice instead of a default preset. A voice preview checks the selected sample; it does not prove every pronunciation or language switch in a live conversation.

Add your clinic's important names to the pronunciation or vocabulary settings where supported. Include common pet names, medication names the agent is allowed to repeat, street names and staff names. Keep approved medical instructions in clinic-reviewed knowledge.

Test checklist

  • Start directly in each supported language.
  • Switch language after the greeting.
  • Correct a name or a spelled email address.
  • Ask for an appointment using local date phrasing.
  • Confirm the clinic's timezone explicitly for ambiguous requests.
  • Ask for a language the chosen voice does not handle well and verify escalation.

Review the transcript and listen to the audio. A readable transcription cannot establish that synthesized speech sounds correct. Ask a fluent reviewer to listen before launching a new language.
