Telnyx SIP connection

Connect a Telnyx number through FQDN routing.

Use a Telnyx SIP Connection to keep a number in your Telnyx account and route it to Verbatik.

Configure Telnyx

  1. Create a SIP Connection with FQDN routing.
  2. Use the Verbatik gateway hostname as the inbound destination and choose the required SIP region. If you choose SRV-based routing, make sure the required DNS records exist; do not assume an arbitrary hostname has SRV records.
  3. Configure outbound authentication on the connection. Save the connection username and password securely.
  4. Select +E.164 number formatting and a transport supported by both ends.
  5. Match codecs: Telnyx G711U is PCMU, G711A is PCMA, and G722 is G.722.
  6. Assign the telephone number to the connection. Create or choose an Outbound Voice Profile, enable the required destinations, and assign the connection to it for outbound use.

Import the number

  1. In Phone numbers, choose Connect to your number via SIP trunking.
  2. Select Telnyx, enter the number and use the applicable Telnyx regional SIP FQDN as Termination URI. sip:sip.telnyx.com is an example; use the carrier endpoint for your setup.
  3. Enter the connection credentials. The Telnyx preset sends the saved username as X-Telnyx-Username for outbound calls.
  4. Add all inbound signaling ranges for the selected Telnyx region under Additional settings. Select the same transport/codecs and leave registration off for FQDN routing.
  5. Save, assign the appropriate published voice agent and verify both directions where enabled.

A network probe does not confirm number assignment or audio. Make a controlled incoming call, check caller ID and speech both ways, and exercise transfers and failure recovery before switching live clinic traffic. Custom or changed carrier networks may need Verbatik admission review.

See Telnyx’s trunk configuration guide and its SIP technical reference. Telnyx continues to bill your carrier service.
