Vonage SIP trunk
Connect a Vonage number using the SIP Dashboard.
Create a SIP trunk in the Vonage developer dashboard and route the number to Verbatik. Review existing number routing before making changes.
Configure Vonage
- Open Voice → SIP in the Vonage developer dashboard.
- Start the trunk wizard and choose the suitable custom/“Something else” connection path.
- Save the generated SIP domain and trunk authentication credentials.
- Under Outbound Calling, select the regional termination endpoint and configure digest authentication or an appropriate IP allowlist.
- Under Inbound Calling, add the Verbatik inbound SIP URI from SIP setup, with matching transport.
- Link the Vonage number to the trunk. This can replace the number’s previous application or domain route, so retain its prior settings for rollback.
Configure Verbatik
- Open Phone numbers → Connect to your number via SIP trunking.
- Choose Vonage and enter the number in E.164 format.
- Use your regional Vonage domain as Termination URI, for example
sip:your-domain.sip-us.vonage.com. - Enter the credentials managed on the SIP trunk. Do not assume the Vonage account API key and secret are the current trunk credentials.
- In Additional settings, add Vonage’s current signaling CIDRs and match codecs and transport. Configure registration only if the particular trunk requires it.
- Save and select a published voice agent.
Validate the route
Use a number you control to verify inbound calls, caller ID, two-way audio and clean hangup. Test the staff transfer and a no-answer recovery case. Check outbound destinations separately when outbound calling is enabled. A successful SIP OPTIONS result is only a signaling check.
Vonage remains the carrier and bills its telephony usage. SIP does not move SMS routing or port the number. Use Vonage SIP Dashboard documentation and technical details for current carrier settings.
