# MCP server tools

Discover approved tools from your server and assign selected tools to agents.

Use an MCP connection when your vendor or service provides a compatible public HTTPS MCP endpoint. The account, server and resource permissions remain under your control.

## Connect and discover tools

1. Open **Integrations**, create a connection and select **MCP server**.
2. Enter the service’s public HTTPS endpoint and any access token or secret headers it requires.
3. Save and run **Test connection**. Verbatik connects to the server and lists its available tools.
4. Select the specific tools the agent should use, review their names, descriptions and parameter schemas, and add them to the agent.
5. Publish and test against an authorized sandbox resource.

## Keep tools limited

An MCP server can advertise actions that read or change business data. Do not grant every tool simply because discovery succeeds. Prefer task-specific accounts, narrow scopes and read-only actions until write behavior has been verified.

MCP discovery is not proof that a booking or write is safe. The server must enforce account permissions, caller ownership, required confirmations, input validation and duplicate protection. Review the returned action receipt before confirming a result to a caller.

## Troubleshooting

Check the exact endpoint and supported transport, server authentication, token expiry and public HTTPS reachability. If the server changes a tool’s schema, rediscover and review the tool before publishing the updated agent. Do not paste tool responses containing customer data into public support messages.
